DESCRIPTION
Initiative 1 - Save today, Survive Tomorrow – Photos with Captions (Day without Electricity) and Save Energy Pledge
Activity I- Photos with Captions (Day without Electricity): Students of classes III-V got creative and pictured a day without electricity along with captions. The young minds learnt they are so reliant on electrical power that they would be unable to perform their daily routine activities to the fullest in the absence of electricity.
Activity II – Save Energy Pledge: Students were sensitized on how they can take small and simple yet effective steps for conserving energy. Respected Vice Principal Ma’am administered the pledge to conserve energy and urged everyone to express their commitment towards this initiative.
Initiative 2 - Travel the Eco-Friendly way – Digital Graphics on Futuristic Transportation System
Activity - Digital Graphics on Futuristic Transportation System: Students of classes VI-VIII researched and designed alluring digital graphics on futuristic transportation system. These graphics demonstrated various modes of transportation which will be used in future, thus providing faster and more efficient transport systems.
Initiative 3 - Let the Sun do the work – Visit to School’s Solar Panel
Activity – Visit to School’s Solar Panel: Students of Classes IX & X visited the solar panel installed at the rooftop of Bosco Public School to observe how the school is using the solar energy to reduce the carbon footprint and utilize this natural resource optimally. They were explained how solar panels harness sunlight to generate electricity and how they help in cutting down the electricity bills. A video was shown in the classes explaining how solar panels are safer to the environment in comparison to conventional sources of energy. Through this visit the students became aware about the economic and social benefits of solar panels.
Initiative 4 - Where Flowers Bloom, so does hope – Converting Waste Flowers into Handmade Products
Activity - Converting Waste Flowers into Handmade Products: Boscons of Class XII have come up with a startup program to utilize waste flowers and convert them into handmade products in their simplest and natural forms. Students process floral waste from temples and manufacture handmade soaps (rose, aloe-vera rose, jasmine, neem), incense cups and natural colors.
Initiative 5 - Innovation is the only way to win – Building Portable Air Conditioners
Activity - Building Portable Air Conditioners: While brainstorming ideas on sustainable products and identifying the need of the society amid harsh weather conditions and conventional ACs being costly and requiring regular servicing and repairs, students of Class XII have built up a sustainable pocket friendly portable Air Conditioner which can be operated at low voltages and low requirement of electrical energy. These ACs can cool an approximate area of 30 sq feet with a minimum temperature of 15 degree celcius.
Initiative 6 - No Plastic is Fantastic- Anti Plastic Campaign
Activity- Anti Plastic Campaign and Pledge: Boscons were sensitized about banning of single use plastic items and usage of alternative that can lead to sustainable future on the Earth. Sagacious school principal- Mr. Raju Duggal administered the pledge not to use 'Single use plastic'. Dynamic Vice principal- Ms. Priya Handa encouraged and motivated the students to adhere to not using single use plastic in the school campus and be environment saviors.
Initiative 7 - Recycle it all, no matter how small – Maintaining Paper Recycling Unit
Activity – Maintaining Paper Recycling Unit: Young Boscons have taken the initiative to use and maintain School’s Paper Recycling Unit where they generate recycled paper for making office files, folders, gift wraps, packing materials etc.
